Have you ever watched a mystery or horror movie where there was a secret room and thought it would be cool to have one of your own. Secret rooms work best in larger houses where it is harder to tell that there is an area missing from the plan. Doors to a secret room can be very complicated and tricky to build as it has to look like there is no door where there actually is. Bookcases surrounded by moldings are by far the most popular way to enter a secret room because they are easiest to camouflaged, but they are also very heavy so precautions have to be taken to avoid sagging.
Gary Katz walks you through all the ins and outs as he builds and installs a bookcase for a secret room project
